PALM SPATHE

These jewellery pieces were made of tropical Carpentaria palm spathes for the sustainability project called "Small Change" at Central Saint Martins. I discovered this material during the last Christmas break (2014) back there in my home town, Thailand when I started to think about making a change to something which is directly related to my everyday life.

This material is the waste organic material from gardening. Palm tree seldom shed their leaves. But I have about 60 palm trees in my garden so they take turn to sped their leaves giving a number of palm spathes are very beautiful in term of lines, textures, forms and colour and it’s 100% recycled. So I started to explore about the quality of the material and how it could become.
